Watercolored Home Garden Card feat Mini Delight: Potted Shelves

Svitlana is here. I'm sharing today a cute card, featuring a scene of a home flower garden using the Mini Delight: Potted Shelves set and watercolor as my coloring medium.

Assembling the Potted Plants

I die-cut all the pots and plant elements out of watercolor paper using my Mini Blossom Die-Cutting Machine. I always feel happy when I have an opportunity to use it.

I do have full-size die-cutting machines—both manual and electric—but the way my workspace is laid out, I either need to move myself to use the one that’s permanently stationed in a different spot, or bring the other one over to my desk.

The Mini Blossom, on the other hand, is always right there within reach, placed among my most-used tools. It's so tiny and lightweight that it’s incredibly easy to just grab it and go.

I only set things up this way a few months ago, and I honestly can’t believe how many of my everyday die-cutting needs it now fulfills.

After die-cutting the elements, I colored them using the Watercolor 36 Pan Set.

For the plants, I used Bamboo, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen. For the pots, I reached for more neutral earthy tones: Moon Rock, Industrial Diamond, Espresso, Mocha, and Paper Bag.

Once all the pieces were colored and dry, I assembled four pots by layering their corresponding die-cut pieces together. Then I “planted” the greenery by adhering the plants into the pots.

Creating the Background

For the background, I used a Watercolor Paper Set (A2 loose sheets) where I made a simple wash using Paper Bag and Sunkissed colors.

After letting it dry completely, I stamped two shelves using Mocha Fresh Dye Ink to give the pots something to sit on.

Final Assembly

I arranged the potted plants onto the background: three of them went onto the stamped shelves, and one was placed on the “floor.”

To pop them up just a bit and add depth, I used thin adhesive foam squares. I specifically opted for the thinner foam because I didn’t want too much bulk—visually, the plant size just felt more balanced with a lower lift.

To add a touch of interest, I also splattered some brown watercolor over the background and the potted plants. Then I stamped the sentiment using Mocha Fresh Dye Ink and foam-mounted the whole panel onto a white card base.
