Eclipse Technique with 3D Embossing Folders – Terrific Tags with Michelle
Hello there, Michelle here. Have you tried the eclipse technique with embossing folders? I have tried it with stamps and dies before, but for my project today, I thought I would try it with embossing folders and you know what? It is so pretty!
With my Terrific Tags with Michelle series so far, I have shown how you can create standalone tags as well as add them on to cards. For this project, I wanted to show you how you can combine a tag on to a card with a design in mind – eclipse embossing.
I started off by running a panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock through my die cutting machine with the Blooming Through The Seasons 3D Embossing Folder from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Seasonal Blooms.
Adding Color
The Terrific Tag was die cut in to the panel and the tag ink blended. I used Sunray and Snapdragon from the Golden Sunset Crisp Dye Ink Set. Rubellite and Razzleberry from the Cherry Blossom Crisp Dye Ink Set. Followed by Midnight Violet from the Shades of Purple Crisp Dye Ink Set.
I think these colors look so pretty blended together! To enhance the embossing further, the tag was re-run through my die cutting machine in the embossing folder and then white pigment ink added to the raised areas. I shared how to do this in my last post and video using Pigment Inks.
Creating the Eclipse
The panel that I cut the tag from was adhered to an A2 white card base. I then popped the tag up with four die cut tags underneath and added it to the card. The sentiment from the kit was die cut from white cardstock twice and stacked up on top of the shadow cut from Translucent Vellum.
It was adhered on to the tag with tiny dots of glue. I took the accompanying sentiment from the Enchanted Iris Stamp Set and stamped it on to black cardstock with Embossing Ink. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut in to a strip and added to the tag with Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
I love how that when the tag gets added back in/on to the panel, it complete the embossing over the whole card. It is such a pretty look! You can see how I created the card in the process video below or over on YouTube.
