This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of distressing the background, stamping and coloring the focal elements, and assembling the card to create a truly memorable and festive greeting for your loved ones.

Creating the Chalkboard Background

Start by distressing a black panel of cardstock with Cloud White Pigment ink using a crumpled piece of packaging filler paper. This will be our background for the holiday card. Apply the ink in a random and organic manner, making sure to catch the edges of the cardstock. Let the background dry while you work on the focal elements.

Stamping and Coloring the Focal Elements

Using the Poinsettia & Berries Stamp and Die Bundle (or any floral stamp set of your choice), heat emboss the poinsettia outline image in white onto a white cardstock panel.

Stamp the solid and detail layers of the poinsettias using red and green ink for a chalk-like effect. Remove excess ink from the embossed areas using a dry microfiber cloth.

Trace the outline of the poinsettia bracts and leaves using a dark grey marker to create a black or slate margin. This not only provides definition to the elements but also covers any feathering from wiping off the excess ink.

Heat emboss the holly branch image and die cut all the colored elements.

Distressing the Focal Elements

To give the die-cut pieces a chalky appearance, repeat the distressing process by randomly applying blotches of Cloud White Pigment ink using the crumpled piece of packaging paper.
