Ink Blending to Create Faux Dimension

Hello, friends! Erum here, and I have a one-layer stamped panel to share with you where I will show you how we can create dimension with a bit of ink blending.

The project features the gorgeous Golden Days Stamp Set and the Mask Stencil.

1. Create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card base. Set aside.
2. Place a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Classic Crest White Cardstock (80lb) in a stamping platform and stamp the flower outline A1 layer from the Golden Days Stamp Set in Pink Pearl Crisp Dye Ink.
3. Place the Golden Days Mask Stencil over the stamped image, and through it, apply Pink Pearl Crisp Dye Ink with a Small Ink Blending Tool, covering the entire area. Remove the stencil when done.
4. Position and stamp layer A2 from the Golden Days Stamp Set in Coral Bliss Crisp Dye Ink.
5. Next, stamp layer A3 in Rubellite Crisp Dye Ink.
6. Stamp layer A4 in Grapevine Crisp Dye Ink.
7. Cover the flower with a mask from the Golden Days Mask Stencil and stamp the B2 layer of the leaves in Marshland Crisp Dye Ink.
8. Stamp the B3 layer in Sea Forest Crisp Dye Ink.
9. And then stamp the B4 layer in Mangrove Root Crisp Dye Ink.
10. Once done, keep the flower mask in place and use the Small Ink Blending Tool to apply the green inks around the flower to give a soft green halo and add faux dimension.

Tip! The darker green inks will create shadows showing more depth and illusion as if the image is not one layered.

11. Then add fine black paint splatters and a few gold splatters from the Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set.
12. Next, use a Fine Liner Pen to add a doodled outline along the petals' edge, floral image, and the foliage.
13. Stamp the flower center and the sentiment in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
14. To finish, adhere the panel onto the card base with Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
