3 Design Tips for Classy Memory Keeping Layouts (with Video Tutorial)

Hi there! It's Nathalie with you today with a new idea on how to add a touch of class to memory keeping layouts. For this project, I am using the new Build-A-Garden Sulfur Cosmos.

I just love the lovely designs on the blooms in this set, however, my favorite part of the set might be the addition of that extra background stencil.  It is always nice to have the ability to color your projects with the ease of an stencil, but having a stencil that can help you build backgrounds and more just makes this set a must!  Let's take a look at what I have created:

I love the clean and classic look of this memory keeping layout, and it comes together easily following a few simple design ideas.

• A clean but impactful background

One of the keys on how to add a touch of class to memory keeping layouts is to keep them clean and simple.  Think of setting the stage for your memory.

I usually equate class with simplicity, elegance, crispness, and the color black! 

So, I am choosing to create the background of my page using the background stencil from Build A Garden: Sulfur Cosmos and Jet Black Fresh Dye ink.

I used  the stencil to create two impressions on both the left and right edges of my 6×8 spread.  I am adding a bit of extra interest by setting an angle to the stencil impression.  The design of the stencil and the contrast in color bring class and elegance with a small twist to the background.

• A classical color combination

Another key when thinking about how to add a touch of class to memory keeping layouts is go for a classic color combination.  My choice was to go for a feminine combination of colors black and white with vibrant pink.  And what better way to showcase the florals in the Build-A-Garden: Sulfur Cosmos than to color them with tones from the Blushberry Bliss and Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Inks.

• Bring focus to the spread

Another key to adding a touch of class to memory keeping layouts is to keep it focused.  For this, I am choosing to frame my photo using the Sparkled Frame Die Set,  and setting it along the angle edge of the stenciled background.  I cut one of the Build-A-Garden: Sulfur Cosmos florals into separate pieces and used them to make the picture pop more on the page.

• Add small finishing touches

Simplicity is probably key to bringing class to this spread.  My choice is to keep the title work simple by using Obsidian Pigment Ink, Build A Garden Sulfur Cosmos, and Sunny Sentiments Stamp Set.  The understated title keeps everything clean and simple.

I am taking advantage of the angle in the background to add more sentiments to the page, and also a  few extra pops of color using the Blushberry Bliss Enamel Dots.
