Easy and Fun Way to Add Texture Using Letterpress Plates!

The Essential Textures: Gilded Marble Press Plate is from Altenew's brand new BetterPress Plate Collection. It’s a range of versatile, detailed, high-quality letterpress plates to give your handmade cards and other crafting projects timeless allure of vintage letterpress designs! But that’s not all, you can also use the letterpress plates with hot foil technique and that’s what I’ve done for my today’s card.

How to Create Watercolor Background with Essential Textures: Gilded Marble Press Plate

I started off with a sheet of Watercolor Paper Set (A2 loose sheets) – Cold Pressed and a hot foiling technique to add a wow factor to my background. I used a hot foil machine and combined Essential Textures: Gilded Marble Press Plate with Hot Foil Roll – Gold (Mirror).

Next, I used the Watercolor 36 Pan Set and brush #18 from Artists' Watercolor Brushes – Round to paint watercolor stripes over the foiled texture.

When the background was completely dry I added some black ink splatters and adhered the panel to a card base. My last step was to create sentiments.

I used Fine Alphabet Die Set to die cut “Just To Say” out of blue cardstock and I combined the negative panel with white “Thank You” sentiment created with Encouraging Sentiments Die Set.

And that’s it! Mixing techniques is my favorite way to create unique designs and I love how this thank you card looks different depending on the light and angle.
