Soft & Serene Ink Blending feat. Crocus Layering Die Set | Terrific Tags with Michelle

Hello there, Michelle here with another edition of Terrific Tags with Michelle. Today I am sharing soft and serene ink blending featuring Craft-A-Flower: Crocus Layering Die Set.

Craft-A-Flower: Crocus Layering Die Set

I started off my tag by die cutting the Craft-A-Flower: Crocus Layering Die Set from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock.

I decided to use the flower that is standing up partially open, as well as the bud and the leaves.

I placed the pieces on a Sticky Mat and added ink blending using Mini Blending Brushes.

I used Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks (Wisteria, Hydrangea and Ultraviolet) for the petals, blending the color out to the white of the cardstock to give that soft look.

For the stamen, I used Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks (Sunray, Chamomile and Snapdragon). For the leaves, I used Green Valley Fresh Dye Inks (Firefly, Grass Field and Shadow Creek).

I set the pieces aside to dry for a few minutes and then assembled them using liquid glue, lining the pieces up using the keyhole system, as well as the images on the back of the packaging.

Soft & Serene Tag

I die cut two tags using the largest tag in the Terrific Tags Die Set, die cutting from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock.

On one, I added ink blending to the bottom left hand corner using a Small Blending Brush and Wisteria Ink. I started on the edge of the tag and loosened the pressure on the brush and I went further up the tag to fade the ink out.

I wanted to keep this ink blending very soft to create a look like there may be further crocus in the background out of focus.

I sprayed a little water onto my Sticky Mat using the Fine Mister Bottle. I picked it up with a Fine Watercolor Brush and tapped the brush to splatter the water onto the tag. The water reacts with the ink to create water droplets. I dabbed off the excess water and set it aside to dry.

This gives a slight bokeh effect and adds to the serene feeling of the tag, along with the color scheme. I always find purple a calming color!

The leaves were adhered to the tag using liquid glue, followed by the crocus using Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I cut off the excess overhanging the bottom using scissors. The other tag was adhered to the back using Glue Tape.

I stamped a sentiment from Build-A-Flower: Dreamy Dahlias onto Crafty Necessities: Jet Black Cardstock using Embossing Ink and the Stampwheel.

I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the tag using liquid glue. Watch the video to see a trick as to how to make it lay flat with the different layers underneath!

To finish, I tied twine through the top of the tag and tied in a bow and then embellished with Amethyst Gem Sparkles, adhering them in place using the Perfect Picker.
