Projects with Products from Today's Release

I have two cards to share today, similar in design and execution, but different in color schemes. However, in both cases, I stamped onto watercolor cardstock with Obsidian Pigment Ink and heat set with clear embossing powder. I set up the stamp in the MISTI so that I could stamp once in one corner of my A2 card panel, and then flipped it around and stamped a second time in the opposite corner. Using both the Artists’ Watercolor 36 Pan Set and the 24 Pan Set, I painted the flowers in warm shades of rose, rust, and plum, mixing the paint colors to get subtle variations between each flower, as you’d see in nature. I’m not really sure if the Clematis Josephine grows in these shades, but when have we ever let a little detail like that dictate our artistic endeavors? Once I’d finished painting the flowers, I mixed more water into the puddles of blue/green paints I’d used for the flowers, adding just a touch of Jet Black paint to tone down the color, and painted in the background.

Then I stamped the sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower: Clematis Josephine Outline Stamp Set onto vellum paper with embossing ink and heat set with black embossing powder, tore the edges of the paper, and wrapped the strip around the card panel before adhering it to the folded card base. For the second card, I stamped again with the stamp in the MISTI, but stamped only one corner this time. I used the same ink and embossing powder mentioned above to stamp the image. This time, I used cool shades of blue, purple, and pink in the paint sets – Persian Blue, Shades of Purple mixed with Lapis Lazuli, and Rubellite and Grapevine mixed. As I did above for the first card, I painted the background in with a muted shade of blue/gray/green. In fact, I painted both backgrounds at the same time with the same puddle of paint. I created a greeting with the “happy” sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower: Spider Mums Outline Stamp Set, and the “birthday” from the Birthday Builder Stamp Set.

If you know my style at all, you might be surprised that there are no paint speckles to complete the card! Instead, I opted for a clean, crisp, soothing pair of cards, adding only a few clear or pale gray enamel dots that blend in so completely that you almost fail to notice them!
