October 2025 Inspiration Challenge
Last Updated: October 1, 2025
Inspiration is everywhere! From home decor, to clothing and definitely flowers. My inspiration came in the form of a gorgeous bouquet I received for my birthday in August from Altenew.
Welcome friends! This is Mindy and I'm so excited to be hosting the Inspiration Challenge this month!
I have a little confession to make: choosing colors for my card projects is always a challenge for me. Even when I find a palette I love, I often get stuck deciding which elements should be which color. If you feel the same way, you’re not alone! Over time, I’ve developed a few steps that help me work through the process, and I thought this challenge would be the perfect opportunity to share them with you.
Step 1: Consider The Feeling
When I look at a color palette, the first thing I ask myself is: What does this make me feel? Does it remind me of Fall? Summer? Something light and airy or bold and cozy? That “feeling” becomes my guide, because it helps me narrow down the direction for the entire project. For this bouquet-inspired palette, I was definitely getting Fall vibes.
Step 2: Choose Products To Match The Theme
Once I’ve settled on the overall feeling, I take a look at my supplies. Since my palette leaned toward Autumn, I pulled out products that fit that category—think leafy dies, seasonal florals, or cozy motifs. By matching the mood to the supplies, I can quickly eliminate options that don’t fit, which makes the decision-making process easier.
Step 3: Decide On A Technique
Next, I ask myself: How do I want to bring this palette to life? Do I want to die cut? Ink blend? Stamp and color? This decision goes hand in hand with product choice because the technique you choose determines what supplies you’ll need. Sometimes I’m in the mood for lots of layered die cuts, while other times I’d rather play with ink blending and stencils. For this challenge, I leaned into the textures and stencil layers of the Woodland Path.
Step 4: Bringing It All Together
By breaking things down into “feeling → products → technique,” I avoid overwhelm and can enjoy the creative process instead of second-guessing myself. I hope this approach helps spark your own creativity for this month’s Inspiration Challenge!
I can’t wait to see what you create—whether you lean into Fall like I did, or find your own unique spin on the color palette. Don’t forget to share your projects and join the challenge for a chance to inspire others too!
Now it’s your turn!
Whether you’re inspired by a color palette, a shape, or a feeling, I can’t wait to see how you interpret this month’s challenge theme. Will your take be bold and graphic, or soft and true to life? Either way, be sure to link up your project and share your creative journey with us!
