Mixed Media Floral Card with Stencil Art: Majestic Roses Layering Stencil Set

Hi everyone, Aga here! Today I’m excited to share a card that’s a bit of an experiment, as I finally got to try an idea I’ve had for a long time.

For this project, I decided to play with a mixed media technique, combining stenciling with inks and embossing paste to create a textured floral background. I love how mixing different mediums adds depth and interest to a card, and Stencil Art: Majestic Roses Layering Stencil Set was perfect for this kind of experiment.

I started by creating the textured layer by using stencil number 1 and 5 and Embossing Paste on Crafty Necessities: Morning Frost Cardstock. After letting it dry for about an hour, I used the remaining stencils to add colour and bring the floral design to life. For the inks, I chose soft pink shades from the Rose Petal Fresh Dye Ink bundle, along with Sunray, Olive, and Moss. 

Be careful when inking over the embossed paste areas, as the ink takes longer to dry. For some sections, I gently blotted the surface with a paper towel to remove excess moisture before moving on to the next stencil layer. While my first design was drying, I managed to create another version on Misty Sage cardstock.

I trimmed the stenciled panel to fit my card base and added a sentiment using the Sweet Sentiments Hot Foil Plate Set paired with the Hot Foil Roll - Ivory Black (Mirror).

The embossing paste added a lovely, raised texture, giving the floral design extra dimension and interest.

I love how this card turned out. The combination of stenciling with inks and embossing paste creates a beautiful contrast between soft color and raised texture, giving the roses a dimensional look. This project was a wonderful opportunity to experiment with mixed media technique and explore an unusual combination of products.
