Your QUICK Birthday Card Doesn’t Have to Be Boring! (Easy CAS Card Tutorial!)

Hello Altenew friends, Hannelie here today with a quick, clean and simple (CAS) birthday card, featuring a beautiful butterfly! For this project, I combined elements from two of my favorite stamp sets to create a vibrant and cheerful design, proving that a quick birthday card doesn't have to be dull or boring!

Quick and Easy Birthday Card tutorial

STAMP SETS USED:

  1. Dotted Mandala Stamp Set
  2. Flutter and Bloom Stamp set (butterfly stamp and die)

I have used the Dotted Mandala stamp set quite a few times now, experimenting with different monochromatic color schemes, but this time, I decided to pull out different bright and happy ink colors to give the butterfly a flower-like home, and at the same time, color it!

How to Make a Quick Birthday Card That's NOT Boring

  1. Begin by securing an A2 card front, cut from white card stock, onto the sticky mat of the Stampwheel.
  2. Stamp the different layers of the Dotted Mandala stamp set, using your choice of ink colors, to create the background for the butterfly.
    I used the following:
-Fresh Lemon from A Pocketful of Sunshine Mini Cube Set
-Orange cream from the Warm & Cozy Mini Cube Set, and
-Pinkalicious from the Cherry Blossom Mini Cube Set.
  3. Position the butterfly stamp in the middle of the stamped mandala and use Obsidian Black Ink to stamp the image. I love the crisp and clean outline of the Obsidian ink!
  4. Position the sentiment (from the Dotted Mandala Stamp Set) beneath the stamped butterfly and stamp it, once again with Obsidian black ink.
  5. Remove the card panel from the Stampwheel and use the coordinating die to cut the butterfly.
  6. Adhere the card panel on a folded card base using your choice of adhesive.
  7. Use Instant Dimension Foam Tape to adhere the butterfly to the card base, making sure it aligns perfectly with the negative space created by die cutting.

Tip: If you use colored cardstock that coordinates with the colors of the mandala as a card base, it will create extra interest with the color from the card base peeping out behind the wings of the butterfly!

Your vibrant and cheerful birthday card is now ready to brighten someone's special day!

This birthday card showcases how combining elements from different stamp sets can create a unique and beautiful design. The Dotted Mandala stamp Set provides a perfect colorful background, while the butterfly from the Flutter & Bloom Stamp Set become the star of the show. This technique can easily be adapted with floral images, or other elements to suit any occasion.
