How To Create A Floating Element Window Card

Sometimes adding a touch of sparkle doesn't mean adding sequins, glitter cardstock, or shimmer relief paste... sometimes the sparkle comes from the card design itself. Using a floating element window card technique allows you to create visual interest and movement without the mess of extra embellishments.

It's Carissa Wiley here with you today, sharing how to create a floating element window card featuring the Craft Your Life Garden Gala Kit and the Nesting Arches Die Set. The suspended element really makes this card shine, providing a professional look that is surprisingly easy to achieve at home.

Designing Your Floating Element Window Card

The beautiful floral image from the Garden Gala stamp and die set becomes the focal point of this floating element window card. To create the "floating" illusion, I've suspended the floral die-cut across the arched opening. The secret to a sturdy window card is making sure there are a few points of contact with the frame and adding an additional die-cut layer behind the blended floral for extra support.

Tips for a Perfect Floating Illusion

When assembling your floating element window card, placement is key. You want the element to look weightless, but it needs enough adhesive surface area to stay secure during mailing. I’ll show you exactly how I accomplished this balance in today's card making video tutorial, so be sure to check that out!

Adding Sparkle Through Creative Card Design

This project proves that a floating element window card really shines because of the clever construction. It doesn't need extra sequins! The design itself adds the "sparkle" and "wow factor" I often crave in my paper crafting. By mastering the window card technique, you can turn any stamp set into a dimensional masterpiece.

Bonus Projects and Inspiration

I also created a bonus card that features some of the leftover elements from the floating element window card. I love finding ways to use every scrap of my Garden Gala Kit! I would love to hear from you—which card design is your favorite?
