CAS Leafy Card with Faux Gilding Flakes Technique

Hello, everyone! It’s Aga here, and today I'm sharing a clean and simple leafy Thank You card featuring a technique I’ve called faux gilding flakes. The gilding flakes technique involves applying thin, metallic flakes (often gold, silver, or copper) to a surface to create a shiny, elegant, and luxurious finish. It’s a popular method in both fine art and craft projects. For today’s project, I used hot foiling and some products from the Altenew Press & Hot Foil Plates Collection to mimic this look.

How to Create a CAS Leafy Card with Faux Gilding Flakes Technique

I started off with a sheet of Watercolor Paper Set (A2 loose sheets) – Cold Pressed and combined it with Essential Textures: Gilded Marble Press Plate and Hot Foil Roll – Gold (Mirror).

Next, I used Stencil Art: Nature Splashes Add-On Die set to die cut the leaves. To keep it simple I added a little amount of green watercolor paint from Watercolor 36 Pan Set to create a fresh and airy foliage. The green and gold make a beautiful combination here!

For my sentiment, I used the Sweet Sentiments Bundle, which I paired with the Hot Foil Roll – Ivory Black (Mirror). I added a panel of Crafty Necessities: Soft Lilac Cardstock to the white card base and adhered all the elements.

This is such a quick and easy technique to create something fun with a touch of glamour. The combination of delicate leaves and a hint of gold gives the card my favorite result: simple and elegant.
