Bold Butterflies With The Craft Your Life Project Kit Butterfly Garden

Last Updated: June 23, 2025

Welcome friends! I'm Mindy Eggen and I'm so excited to be on the Altenew blog with my first official post as a Design Team member! I'm coming in bold with my project today featuring the Craft Your Life Project Kit Butterfly Garden.

One of the many reasons I love the Craft Your Life Project Kits is because of how well everything coordinates and how you can make anywhere from quick and easy cards to something a little more elaborate. When I pulled out this kit to play with, I wanted to keep it whimsical yet striking.

The first step was choosing colors. Nothing says bold like the Amy Tangerine Fresh Dye Ink line. I picked out Lemonade, Ride The Wave and Tickled Pink because I knew having that basic color palette would lead me into beautiful overlapping color combinations when I started ink blending.

Playing With Colors and Butterflies

Using my 9×12 Sticky Mat to hold my cardstock and stencil in place, I set to work on blending those colors with the Zero-Waste Butterfly Garden stencil, Small Blending Brushes and a light hand. With each layer of the stencil, I applied a little more pressure to intensify the color of the butterflies.

The next step is to die cut out all of the images with the Zero-Waste Butterfly Garden die. This gives me lots of options to work with if I want to add dimension.

Creating the Mason Jar for the Butterflies

For the mason jar, I stamped it in Black ink and then added a small bit of color with a light blue marker. I used my detail scissors to trim out the jar and pop it up on the card front using foam tape.

Now I can decorate with my colorful foliage and butterflies. I'm finishing it off with a sentiment from the Breezy Petals Outline Set since it had coordinating dies for the sentiments.

Whimsical yet bold, wouldn't you agree?

I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration on gorgeous butterflies and that you'll also give this fun bold look a try!
