Beyond the Cut: Creative Coordinating Die Techniques | Take 2 with Therese + Video

Last Updated: November 19, 2025

Looking for new ways to use your coordinating dies? Today I’m sharing two bee-inspired card ideas using the same products but with two very different coordinating die techniques. Each design shows a fresh way to stretch your supplies and add creative detail to your cards.

Hi there, it's Therese, and I'm back with another edition of Take 2 with Therese!

Creative Coordinating Die Techniques | Take 2 with Therese

The Craft Your Life Project Kit: Honeycomb Haven has everything you need to spark creativity and make the most of your coordinating dies.

Card #1: Zero Waste Die Embossing Technique

For my first design, I used the Zero-Waste Die from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Honeycomb Haven in a completely new way.

First, I ink blended the stencil panel as usual but instead of cutting the shapes, I used the die with a silicon mat to create an embossed impression over the ink-blended stenciled background. This is a great way to add some subtle texture and depth without any extra layers.

I wanted the background to be the main focal point so i kept the sentiment bold and simple. I used Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder to heat emboss a sub-sentiment from the stamp set.

And an oldie but a goodie, I used the Bold Alphabet Die and popped up the word "hi".

Card #2: Image Shaker Card

For my second design, I used the coordinating die set to create a fun honey jar shaker card. I started by die-cutting a window from the jar image, adding acetate and a layer of Instant Dimension Foam Tape to build the shaker section

Instead of stamping the jar image in the background, I added a panel embossed with the Honeycomb 3D Embossing Folder, brushed lightly with Shimmer Relief Paste in Enchanted Gold to highlight the texture. Inside the shaker, I added Stellar Sequins in Champagne, which tied in perfectly into the honeycomb theme.

I also stamped and ink-blended the jar lid, then adhered it over the top of the shaker window. Then I added two bees from the stenciled background as well as the honey dipper to finish the card and bring the whole scene together.

Which Coordinating Die-Cut Technique Will You Try First?

I love how using the same Craft Your Life Project Kit: Honeycomb Haven can create two completely different looks just by changing up the die-cutting technique. Whether you use your coordinating dies to add texture or to build dimension, there are endless ways to stretch your creativity and make the most of your supplies.
