2 Ways to Use Shimmer Relief Paste | Terrific Tags with Michelle

Hello there, Michelle here with Terrific Tags with Michelle and another edition of creativity unlocked featuring Delicate Magnolia Layering Die Set. Today I am combining the beautiful Magnolia with Shimmer Relief Paste for some added sparkle and shine!

The charming Delicate Magnolia Layering Die Set features two versatile dies – one to create three delicate petal layers and another for two intricate pistil layers. Pair it with foliage dies or geometric stencils to add timeless sophistication to your creations.

Delicate Magnolia

I started off my card by die cutting the Delicate Magnolia Layering Die Set twice from Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock.

I placed the pieces on my Sticky Mat and added ink blending to the petals using Enchanted Garden Fresh Dye Inks (the three lightest shades), followed by a little Midnight Violet (from the Shades of Purple Fresh Dye Inks collection) in the very center of the petals.

I used Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks (Sunray and Chamomile) for the flower centers.

I adhered the pieces together using the keyhole system and liquid glue. I folded up the petals slightly using my fingers, to add some dimension to them.

Tag Shaped Card

I cut off one corner of an A2 sized black card base and then used this as a guide to know how much to cut off the other corner (to make it symmetrical). This is a quick and easy way to make a shaped card!

Although magnolias are not typically purple in color, I wanted them to be purple so that I could match them to the gorgeous new Amethyst Shimmer Relief Paste! I thought it would be fun to add the paste to my background in two different ways.

Shimmer Relief Paste Technique 1

I placed my card base onto my Sticky Mat and then placed the brick wall and door stencil from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Flower Arch on top.

I added a little Amethyst Shimmer Relief Paste onto my mat and picked it up using a mini sponge dauber. I then pounced the dauber onto the stencil (over the wall part only) trying to apply more paste towards the center where the flowers will be, and then fading off at the edges.

This works really well against the dark card base as the shimmer really shows up beautifully!

Shimmer Relief Paste Technique 2

To add even more shimmer and shine to the card, I mixed a little water with Amethyst Shimmer Relief Paste using a brush and then splattered this onto the card. Again, this shows up really nicely against the dark card base but would also work with a lighter base too!

One of the great things about this paste is that it dries really quickly, but is also very easy to clean up!

The Sentiment

I stamped the ‘thanks' sentiment from Enchanted Roses Stamp Set onto Crafty Necessities: Jet Black Cardstock using Embossing Ink and the Stampwheel. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was then cut into a strip.

The leaves from Zero Waste: Berries and Branches Die (see my last card for how I made them. I still had some left!), were adhered to the card first, followed by the flowers. The sentiment was adhered using 1/4″ Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
