For today’s project, I played with a few shades from the set using a loose coloring approach. Instead of staying strictly within the lines, I allowed the color to flow with only partial attention to the outlines creating a relaxed, expressive effect.
How to Loose Color with Acrylic Marker 24 Color Set – Vol. 2
I started by pressing a delicate pattern of flowers and leaves from Floral Serenade Press Plate onto Evergreen Cardstock using Evergreen Fresh Dye Ink. This created a soft, tone-on-tone design that I used as a gentle guide for my coloring.
After creating my color swatch, I chose a few shades and started applying them in thin layers for smoother blending. Acrylic markers are opaque, so you can layer lighter colors over darker ones once the first layer is dry. They dry quickly, but it’s best to give each layer a minute or two to avoid any smudging.
For my pattern, I mixed green with white, two different blue shades with white, blue with black, and light purple along with muted yellows for the flower centers. It’s always a good idea to keep a scrap piece of paper nearby to test your colors before applying them to your main project. This way, you can make sure the shades blend the way you want and avoid any surprises!
I then combined my finished piece with a simple sentiment from the Essential Sentiments Bundle to create a beautiful floral birthday card.
