I fell in love with the Aspen Sky stencil the first time I saw Jennifer McGuire use it in one of her LIVES. The perspective of looking up through the trees toward the sky creates incredible depth and makes a beautiful focal point for a card.

The Aspen Sky Stencil set was so much fun to work. I've finished two versions of the card. One is a bit more traditional color-wise but both were great fun. For both, I cut the image into equal segments adding in a smidge of space in between each. I elevated every other segment, mounting them onto dark A2 panels using Altenew's Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I took a similar (but slightly different) approach to the second version as well changed up the color story. There are many ways in which to explore using this set. Can't wait to try something new.

Beautiful stencil and easy to use. Plan to try some monochrome. The stencils have very small details. I recommend using a narrow ended tool to hold the pieces in place while inking, otherwise the small branches move and you lose the sharp edges.

Pretty easy to use though the first layer is very fiddley. The rest of it went smoothly though. Used oxide inks. Image is of my first use to get an idea of colors and for reference sheet. (Clearly warm colors for the trunk and branches doesnt work as well with the yellow leaves lol)

I’m looking forward to trying this stencil out. The examples are so beautiful, such a unique point of view, looking up to the sky through a tree.
