Two Alcohol Marker Techniques, One Striking Card! | Altenew Educators “Marker Magic” Video Hop + Giveaway

Hi there, everyone! Welcome to Altenew Educators’ video hop! The theme of this hop is “Marker Magic”. You will find tons of inspiration and all about how to use Altenew Artist Alcohol Markers as you hop with us – don't forget to enter the giveaway! Today, I’m excited to share a card that’s bursting with color and packed with useful alcohol marker tips. This project combines two totally different coloring styles into one cohesive design.

Two Alcohol Marker Techniques, One Stunning Floral Card!

Step 1: Die-Cut and Prep the Magnolias

From the Craft Your Life Project Kit Magnificent Magnolias, die-cut three magnolia flowers from Rouge cardstock. This colored base helps reduce blending time and gives your petals a jump-start with less ink needed. Test your marker colors on scrap cardstock before starting!

Step 2: Add Depth with Alcohol Markers

Use the Red Sunset and Island Garden Marker sets to add dimension.

• Start with Heart Beat: Add pigment to the petal base, then add feather-light flicks.

• Next, Coral Bliss: Build color and extend the flicks further.

• Then, Pink Pearl: Blend softly if any area looks harsh.

• Touch up with Blush: Add soft transitions—but avoid overblending!

• Add depth with Vineyard Berry: Use the tip-to-tip method for natural ombré flicks (Vineyard Berry and Pink Pearl).

Repeat on all the petal layers.

Step 3: Color the Flower Centers

Color the centers with Mountain Pine Artist Alcohol Marker, and add interest with Heart Beat Alcohol Marker dots. Don’t worry about assembling every small detail—simplify if needed!

Adhere with liquid glue using the keyhole system and the layering guide on the packaging.

Step 4: Stamp and Color the Background

Stamp the florals from the Build-A-Garden: Tranquil Trail using Obsidian Pigment Ink on Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
Use Artist Markers directly to color:

• Leaves: Mountain Pine, Grass Field, Minty Mint, and Sweet Leaf

• Flowers: Azurite, Ultramarine, Eastern Sky, Iceberg—go loose! Scribble, don’t stress!

No need to stay in the lines—let the coloring feel artistic and relaxed.

Step 5: Bring It All Together

• Arrange your magnolias over the stamped background.

• Add black splatters using Carbon Black Gouache.

• Add a soft ink blend using Eastern Sky Fresh Dye Ink to ground the florals.

• Use Heart Beat Marker dots for accents, add Pink Pearl centers, and outline with a Fine Liner Pen.

• Finish by stamping the sentiment and adhering the flowers using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
