Shabby Chic with Pops of Color!
Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I've got a pair of cards created almost entirely from die-cuts! I love stamping and coloring, but stand-alone die-cuts are just so much fun to play with.
When using the multi-layered die sets like Jumbo Garden Picks Layering Die Set, I like to die cut a bunch of them, so that I can create several cards at once. It's super easy when the layers are all grouped together in one convenient die set, like they are in Jumbo Garden Picks. I chose my gradient pink, aqua, and blue cardstock colors from my stash of colored cardstock, and then spent some time just putting everything together.
Card 1
This first card uses the new Nesting Slimline Rectangle Dies. The dies not only cut your card base to exactly the right size, but they also create a debossed frame around the edge of the die-cut, which I think adds such an elegant little touch! I also die cut a full Floral Lace die-cut from some more white cardstock, which I snipped into a few different pieces and adhered to the white slimline card front to create a pretty feminine textured background. Reminds me of a vintage lace handkerchief!
Next, I die cut “love” from the Classic Alphabet Die Set, again using white cardstock. Using my gridded Crafter's Essential Cutting & Alignment Mat, I arranged the die-cut letters in a nice straight line, and then picked them all up using washi tape and added foam adhesive to the back. While they were all still attached to the washi tape in a straight line, I adhered them to the center of the slimline card front.
The next step was to add my flowers, which I arranged in the corners and adhered with a combination of liquid and foam adhesive for lots of dimension. Finally, I added a greeting from Mega Greetings 3 Stamp Set on a strip of white cardstock, stamped with Ultramarine Crisp Dye Ink.
Card 2
As I said before, when working with layering die sets, I like to die cut and assemble lots of finished pieces so that I can make more than one card. I used the leftover assembled pieces from Jumbo Garden Picks Layering Die Set to assemble a small floral swag piece, which I adhered to a white card base using both liquid and foam adhesive for extra dimension.
The final step was to add a greeting; I die cut Circled Greetings: Hugs Die Set from some white cardstock and then trimmed the edges to leave the greeting as a stand-alone die-cut word. I added it to the floral card front using foam adhesive.
