Get to Know Samantha

My name is Samantha Pfrimmer and I’m so excited to be a guest designer for Altenew. A little bit about me… I started crafting about three and half years ago and I was hooked from the very start. One of my very first stamp sets was a layering stamp set from Altenew and I have been the biggest fan of the brand ever since. When it comes to my card-crafting style, I love a clean and detailed design using bold color. As far as tools and techniques, I enjoy it all; stamping, stenciling, coloring, die-cutting, and ink-blending. This is why today I am going to share a card that combines all of these fun techniques into one overall design.

Combining Multiple Techniques Into One Cohesive Design!

For my design I wanted to create a card that featured the glass jar from the Butterfly Garden Stamp Set filled with die-cut flowers. When I looked at the greenery stamps also included in the Butterfly Garden set, I realized one of the leaves was a perfect match for the leaves in the brand-new Craft-A-Flower: Garden Cosmos Layering Die Set. Because my design had a lot of larger elements, I decided to go with an A7 card size. I first cut a panel of 110lb white card stock 4” x 6” to be my base. I stamped the glass jar in black ink, before stamping the greenery using my Fresh Leaf Ink from the Whispering Woodland collection. Once my jar was stamped, using the Sea Glass Artist Marker from the Cool Summer Night collection, I lightly colored the edges of the glass jar to create dimension.

Next up, the flowers! I die cut all my flowers and leaves from the Craft-A-Flower: Garden Cosmos Layering Die Set using 80lb white cardstock. Using the inks from both the Bubblegum Dreams and Shades of Purple collections, I ink-blended flowers in alternating pinks and purples.

I used the Honey Drizzle ink from the Pocketful of Sunshine collection for my flower centers, and I kept my leaves a combination of Limeade and Fresh Leaf from the Whispering Wood Collection. Once everything was ink-blended and assembled, I arranged my die cuts and adhered them with both glue and foam tape for added dimension. To finish everything off I selected a “Hugs” sentiment from the Versatile Greetings Die Set and cut it from black cardstock. I made sure to cut and stack together several layers for dimension. Once completed, I noticed I needed one more element to finish off the card, a butterfly.

Using the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Butterfly Garden, I die cut from 80lb white card stock and selected one of the smaller butterfly die cuts. Using my Original Sticky Mat, I place my butterfly down and ink-blended him in the yellows from the Pocketful of Sunshine collection of inks with the Butterfly Garden Layering Stencil Set. Once he was finished, I popped him on the card and attached the card to a black mat measuring4 1/8” x 6 1/8” and then again onto a 5” x 7” lavender card base.

I now have a pretty card with multiple elements just waiting to be sent to a friend.

Thanks for reading and happy crafting!
