October 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Project Inspiration

My projects feature the new Craft Your Life Project Kit: Casual Bouquets. I've created two card projects that feature all elements of the kit to create a ‘no line stenciling' look. There is a step-by-step video tutorial to show you how.

Look, no lines!

I used the Simple Coloring Stencil Set to create both the florals without any outline stamping; however, I did use the stamp set to roughly judge how to lay down the first stencil on my cardstock just by placing the set over the card panel and eyeballing it.

I started all of my florals with the leaf layer first – for the card on the right, I used stencil 1, and for the card on the left, I used stencil 3. I adhered the stencils to my mat with Satin Masking Tape and used Mini Blending Brushes to add my colors.

The stencils split each leaf in half, so I used two different colors of Crisp Dye Ink – Sunray and Chamomile. I blended out from the ‘center' of the leaf (where the stem is) and faded out to the edges. I then overlaid the ‘branch/stem stencil and used Hazelnut.

Fitting the Puzzle Pieces Together

Once the leaves are blended and in place, you can move to the florals (Stencil 2 for the flower above, Stencil 4 for the second card). I show you exactly what lines up where in the video, however the two tips I have:

Use the stamp set as a reference to see where each petal is and work out which way to rotate your stencil in relation to the leaves
Look for notches in your leaves (or whatever you have stenciled) that you can easily line up part of your next stencil layer with. I used the notches at the base of the leaves to kick off my petal stenciling.

Each petal layer has two different flowers on it. I used Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, and Heart Beat Crisp Dye Inks for the red flower (each layer has a different color), and Arctic, Ocean Waves, and Dusk for the blue flower. The flower centers are just whatever was left on my yellow blending tool with a little Hazelnut. I also added white gel pen and gold gel pen touches in the centers.

On the second floral, I used the same colors, but for the berries, I added my red and then my blue blending tools over each other to make a deep purple berry.

Add Texture or Keep One Layer

I used the coordinating die set to die cut out the first flower, then placed it inside the 3D Embossing Folder in the kit and ran it through my die-cutting machine to add lots of lovely dimensions.

For my second card, I kept it one layer, but you can see that if you flip over the stencils, you can create the exact same flower but in a mirror image. (And this mirror image has a coordinating stamp and die, too, if you want to use it!)

Finishing Touches

The font in the stamp set is so cute! I stamped sentiments onto the card panels (lining up the dry embossed piece first, then adhering with Instant Dimension Tape afterward) using Antique Gold Pigment Ink. I didn't use black ink as I wanted to keep the soft ‘no-line' look. I also added a few splatters of Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray and clear drops to finish!
