A New Twist to Fantastic Monochromatic Memory Keeping Layouts (with Video Tutorial!)
Hi there! It's Nathalie with you today to share a new twist to monochromatic memory keeping layouts featuring a few of the latest Altenew releases. I am using the new Scattered Tiles Stencil along with the fun Rose Gold Shimmer Relief Paste and the Brushed Rose Metallic Cardstock to bring this idea of a single color tone together. These three products are the same color, but the difference in texture and finish is what is going to help us bring the ultimate impact to this layout.
One of the misconceptions of monochromatic projects is the idea of a single tone, but I want to show you how through texture, shimmer, and dimension you can achieve a modern and impactful look for your memory keeping.
Start with a Subtle Tone
I am choosing Dusty Pink Fresh Dye ink to create the first layer of color on the background. The small details in the Scattered Tiles stencil brings forward the colors in the photos but also creates a base for the color to build upon. The ink application is subtle and existent throughout the two sides of the spread, so that it is easy to add onto to it without losing it under the following layers.
Time for texture and shine
The nature of the two steps of the Scattered Tiles stencil is a great way to build on the idea of a single tonality. However, I want to introduce shine and texture with the same color, so what better way than to use the new Rose Gold Shimmer Relief Paste. Having the second layer of the stencil impression show differently visually and to the touch were key to show that the you can carry the color through the page.
The key to achieving the crisp impression with the relief paste is using a palette knife, and dragging the paste in a single direction. The nature of the paste creates a more saturated and metallic look of the pink shade featured in the background.
Start with a Subtle Tone
Sleek and Smooth Dimension
I wanted to bring extra pop of the color to the page, so I am using Brushed Rose Metallic Cardstock to create the title and embellishments of this layout. The idea of adding a new twist to memory keeping ideas is bringing as much as the color in different ways. The title cut from the cardstock using the XOXO & More Die Set brings that pop of color and a extra dimension. While the leaves cut from the cardstock with the Stencil Art Nature Splashes Add-on die, bring dimension but with a smooth tactile finish to the spread.
Add Extra Impact with a Twist
One last think to bring this new twist to monochromatic memory keeping layouts is to add a bit of extra interest. Think of it as the final touch or the first thing your viewer is going to see on the page. So, I am using the Tags and Labels 2 Die Set to create a means to house my photos and journaling in the page.
By hanging/holding the pieces on the spread with thin metallic rose thread just brings it all together, while supporting the idea of the monochromatic look of the page.
