Play With Soft and Hard Textures in One Cardmaking Project!
Hello, crafty friends, and happy release day! 🎉
Lydia here, and I’m beyond excited to share a fun and creative project with you today using the brand-new Craft Your Life Project Kit: Flower Arch! This kit is an absolute dream, and I just adore the mix of textures—there’s something so beautiful about the contrast between the hard, structured stone and the soft, delicate flowers. 🌸🪨
Bringing the Flower Arch to Life
To get started, I took a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and ran it through my die-cutting machine with the 3D Embossing Folder from the kit. Let me just say—WOW! The raised design instantly gives the card a gorgeous dimensional look, perfect for adding shading and detail later on.
Next, I used the stencil to color in the stone areas, choosing Sand Dunes Ink for that natural, weathered look. I love how easy it is to create depth and realism with just a bit of ink blending! For the window effect, I added a couple of soft swipes of Sea Glass Artist Marker, which gave it a subtle, dreamy glow.
To create the wood effect, I reached for my Artist Markers—starting with a base layer of Rocky Shore and then adding fine detail lines with Mocha Artist Marker to create a natural grainy texture. To soften the effect and blend it seamlessly, I went back over it with Rocky Shore once again. And of course, I couldn’t forget the metal accents! A few touches of the silver marker from the Winter Wonderland Brush Marker Set brought the perfect finishing touch, making the details pop!
Adding the Floral Magic
Now for the real showstopper—the gorgeous floral arrangement! I stamped the large floral image from the stamp set onto another panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock, using Industrial Diamond Ink for a crisp and elegant outline.
Then, I had so much fun adding color using the stencils! For the flowers, I blended a dreamy mix of Alpine Aster, Hydrangea, Indigo Skies, Andromeda, Ultraviolet, and Crystal Violet—creating a rich, multi-tonal effect that brings the blooms to life. For the leaves and stems, I used Marshland, Sea Forest, and Mangrove Root to give them a lush, fresh feel. The layering effect from the stencils made everything look so soft and painterly—it's like the flowers are gently cascading over the stone arch.
Finishing Touches
For the sentiment, I kept it classic and crisp by stamping a beautiful phrase from the same set using Obsidian Ink. A bold black sentiment always stands out perfectly against soft, blended colors!
And that’s it! A beautiful, dimensional, and textured card that’s both elegant and full of character. I had so much fun playing with this kit, and I hope it inspires you to create something magical, too! ✨
