Ink-Blended Pond Lilies Card | Altenew Educators Video Hop
Hello, crafty friends!
Welcome to the Altenew Educators Video Hop. The theme of this hop is "Something Blue". Today I'm sharing an ink-blended Pond Lilies card.
I combined beautiful aqua and teal tones with layered florals and lily pads to create a fresh, serene design inspired by a peaceful pond scene.
The background features ombre ink blending with subtle stenciled texture, while the dimensional flowers and lily pads add depth and interest. I also incorporated an embossed frame from the Frozen Moments Craft Your Life Project Kit to help draw attention to the focal arrangement.
Let's get started!

Ink-Blend the Background
- Begin with Volcano Lake Fresh Dye Ink, concentrating the color in the bottom left corner and blending diagonally toward the upper right.
- Add Lagoon Fresh Dye Ink over the lower half of the panel, blending softly into the first color.
- Deepen the bottom left corner with Teal Tempest Fresh Dye Ink, leaving the top right area light for contrast.
Tip: Keep the top right area of the background lighter to create visual balance.
Create the Embossed Frame
- Die cut an oval frame from the Frozen Moments Craft Your Life Project Kit.
- Place the frame inside the recessed side of the coordinating embossing folder.
- Secure with Satin Masking Tape and run through your die-cutting machine.
- Set aside.
Die Cut the Floral Elements
- Die cut the lily pads and flowers from the Pond Lilies Layering Die Set.
- Die cut additional small flowers using Layer 1 pieces from the Craft-A-Flower Forget-Me-Not Layering Die Set.
- Die cut only the Layer 3 flower center pieces and set aside.
Ink-Blend the Lily Pads
- Apply Volcano Lake to the centers of the lily pads.
- Ink-blend Teal Tempest from the outer edges inward.
- For extra depth, lightly add Dark Night Fresh Dye Ink around the edges and in the notches.
Tip: Leave portions of the lily pads lighter in the center to create natural highlights.
Ink-Blend the Flowers
- Ink-blend the centers of the Pond Lilies flowers with Volcano Lake Fresh Dye Ink.
- Randomly ink the Forget-Me-Not petals using a combination of Volcano Lake and Teal Tempest for soft variation and shading.
Shape and Assemble the Flowers
- Shape all flower layers using the Petal Shaper Tool.
- Assemble the flowers following the layering guide.
- Keep the squiggly flower center pieces white and ink the darker center layer with Teal Tempest.
- Add Pearl Dots to the centers of the smaller flowers.
Tip: Use pearl embellishments to conceal keyholes in layered flowers.
Assemble the Card
- Adhere the embossed frame to the background panel using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
- Arrange the lily pads and flowers around the frame until you are happy with the composition.
- Adhere the elements using liquid adhesive and foam tape where desired.
Add Finishing Touches
- Stamp and trim a sentiment.
- Add splatters of Titanium White Gouache.
- Finish with pearls scattered throughout the design, including the flower centers.
I love how the ink-blended background creates a beautiful, ombre' serene setting for the dimensional Pond Lilies and layered floral accents. The embossed frame adds a lovely detail without overwhelming the design, while the pearls and splatters provide the perfect finishing touches.
