Heartfelt Sentiments Cardmaking Inspiration with the Forget Me Not Layering Die Set

Hello, crafty friends! Lea here today with another edition of Light & Airy with Lea. Creating cards filled with heartfelt sentiments is one of the most meaningful ways to share encouragement, gratitude, and joy. This project blends soft foiling, layered florals, and a sparkling sentiment to create a bright and uplifting design rooted in heartfelt sentiments that truly shine. 

Whether you’re crafting for a friend or building your stash of encouraging cards, this design shows how beautifully heartfelt sentiments can transform a handmade project into something truly special.

To begin, I created a soft and elegant background using the Making Moments press plate and satin gold foil. Hot foiling instantly elevates a card, and the delicate script pattern pairs beautifully with heartfelt sentiments that anchor the design. Because press plates are slightly thinner than traditional hot foil plates, I always recommend adding a paper shim to your sandwich. This small adjustment ensures even pressure and crisp foiling results, giving you a beautifully defined impression every time. Once the plate was warmed, I placed the satin gold foil shiny side down, followed by Blush cardstock and shim. After running it through my die cutting machine, the reveal was pure magic. To add extra depth, I adhered one of the white layers slightly off center behind the glitter layer. This creates a soft drop shadow that helps the sentiment stand out against the foiled background. It’s a simple technique, but it adds so much polish and dimension, making the greeting feel bold, confident, and full of heartfelt sentiments.

To complement the bold die cut, I stamped a secondary sentiment from the Build-A-Garden: Leaning Lily. I stamped it in Obsidian Pigment Ink and trimmed it into a thin strip, keeping it clean and understated so it wouldn’t compete with the main greeting. With all the elements ready, it was time to bring the card together. I arranged the florals around the sentiment, allowing the petals and greenery to frame the greeting without overwhelming it.
