Fall Card Idea: Aspen Sky Background & Dimensional Sentiment
Last Updated: October 10, 2025
Hello friends!
Svitlana here. Today I’m excited to share a fall card featuring warm seasonal tones and a dimensional sentiment design. This project combines beautiful ink blending and layering techniques to create a cozy fall card perfect for expressing gratitude.
Creating the Background
The Stencil Art: Aspen Sky Coloring Stencil Set perfectly captures the look of gazing up into a bright autumn sky through colorful foliage, making it ideal for a fall card.
Ink Colors for a Warm Autumn Look
I used soft, warm hues to bring the scene to life:
Citrus Punch Fresh Dye Ink for the foliage,
Coffee Break Fresh Dye Inks for the trunk and branches, and
Turquoise Fresh Dye Ink from the Deep Blue Seas set for the sky.
After blending, I added gentle splatters of clear water for a soft textured look—like sunlight filtering through the leaves. This simple step adds depth and movement to the fall card background.
This simple step enhances the background and gives the fall card more depth and movement.
Building the Dimensional Sentiment for a Fall Card
While the background looked stunning on its own, I wanted to add a dimensional element that made the design more eye-catching.
Stacking Letters for Dimension
I die-cut the word THANKS directly from the stenciled panel using the Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set.
Each letter was also cut several times from brown cardstock and layered together to create thick, raised letters.
I then inlaid these stacked letters back into the background. This gives a subtle, professional-looking lift that enhances the overall fall card design.
Using stacked die-cuts adds visual interest without distracting from your background.
Finishing the Design
To complete the sentiment, I used a sentiment from the One-Go Solid Sentiment Strips 3 Press Plate Set, letterpressed onto a white cardstock using the Grapevine Fresh Dye Ink.
I placed it between the dimensional letters and popped it up slightly for balance.
For the final details, I mounted the finished background onto a white card base and added a few enamel dots from the Red Cosmos Enamel Dot Set. These small accents highlight the warm tones and complete the fall card beautifully.
Final Thoughts
This fall card is a lovely mix of stenciling, layering, and subtle texture. The Aspen Sky background creates a warm seasonal feel, while the dimensional sentiment adds interest and focus.
Whether you’re sharing gratitude or simply celebrating autumn, this fall card design is both elegant and fun to make.
