Create Your Own Mushroom Cottage Themed Card with Colored Cardstock and Dies!
Hello everyone! Svitlana is here. Today, I'm sharing a mushroom-themed card featuring the wonderful Mushroom Cottage Layering Die Set and the new Crafty Necessities Colored Cardstock.
Colored Cardstock + Layering Dies = Match Made In Heaven!
While I love creating my own handmade card elements using just white cardstock, inks, and techniques, I'm also a huge fan of colored cardstock. Needless to say, I was thrilled to play with Altenew's new cardstock and layered die-cut set such as the Mushroom Cottage is perfect for this!
Calling All Mushroom Lovers!
Speaking of the Mushroom Cottage, it’s truly amazing! When selecting products for my cards, I usually gravitate towards realistic designs, though I do appreciate a good whimsical touch. The Mushroom Cottage is the perfect blend of both—it beautifully combines realism and whimsy.

I began my card by die-cutting the mushroom parts and leaves from the new cardstock. I used Misty Moor, Marshland, and Olive Cardstock for the mushroom elements. For the door and window pieces, I used Buttercream, Marshland, and Paper Bag Cardstock.
To add extra interest, I applied shading to some elements using Olive, Marshland, and Sea Forest Fresh Dye Inks. These inks match the cardstock perfectly, enhancing the overall design.

I assembled the mushrooms by gluing their corresponding layers together with liquid adhesive and then moved on to creating the background, using the Craft Necessities Olive Cardstock for this as well.
I was going for the enchanted forest vibe with my handmade card design. To add a “foresty” feel to the background, I stenciled it with the Leaf Bed Stencil using the Moss Fresh Dye Ink. After that, I blended the Espresso Fresh Dye Ink around the panel edges. Followed by spraying it with water using a fine mister.
I attached the mushrooms to the background using a combination of liquid adhesive and dimensional foam adhesive to ensure all elements remained level.

Next, I adhered the leaves around and in-between the mushrooms. The leaves were die-cut using a die from the same Mushroom Cottage Die Set out of the Crafty Necessities Olive Cardstock and inked up using the Moss Fresh Dye Ink.
I also added splatters of the Antique Gold Ink Spray to the card for an extra enchanted touch.

The background panel was foam-mounted onto a white card base using the Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
Finally, I created a sentiment using the Mushroom Greetings Stamp Set, stamping it onto a white cardstock strip with Moss Fresh Dye Ink. I tucked the sentiment under a mushroom to complete the card.
