Elegant Letterpress-Inspired Card with Flowering Hedge Registration Press Plates

Today I’m sharing a clean and elegant card inspired by classic wedding invitation designs. Featuring delicate letterpress florals, soft ink blending, and a dimensional layout, this project brings together inspiration from ornate stationery and minimalist color palettes.

I’ve always found wedding stationery incredibly inspiring, especially those intricate laser-cut wraps paired with elegant belly bands. This popular design trend sparked the idea for my card—bringing a refined and romantic feel to a handmade project.

Creating the Floral Frame

To start, I used the Flowering Hedge Registration Press Plate Set with Eucalyptus and Iceberg Fresh Dye Inks to create the floral imagery. After pressing, I used the coordinating Flowering Hedge Die Set to cut out the frame. I then trimmed it in half vertically and slightly narrowed the inner edges to create two “doors” that mimic an envelope wrap.

Background and Layers

For the background, I selected Crafty Necessities: Misty Morning Cardstock and softly blended Iceberg Fresh Dye Ink over it to create a subtle gradient.

I foam mounted the floral panels onto this background for dimension, and then adhered the whole piece to a clean white card base.

Adding the Belly Band and Sentiment

To complete the layered look, I cut a strip from the same Crafty Necessities: Misty Morning Cardstock and popped it up across the center like a belly band.

I then created the sentiment using another plate from Flowering Hedge Registration Press Plate Set, stamping with Iceberg Fresh Dye Ink and die cutting it before adhering it with foam tape.

Finishing Touch: Wax Seal

As a final flourish, I added a wax seal made with Haze Blue Wax Beads and Mini Bow Wax Seal Stamp. It fit beautifully into one of the flourishes of the calligraphy-style sentiment and brought a romantic, classic detail to the piece—tying back perfectly to the wedding invitation inspiration.
