A Page Out of Altenew’s Coloring Books!

Coloring books are fun and your perfect companion for some stress-free time out. I needed this time out so I thought I would use one of the wonderful coloring books by Altenew and record a relaxing watercolor session for you!
The page is from the Exotic Blooms Watercolor Coloring Book. I used the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set to color the page. This was easy, fun, a bit long but nonetheless, very relaxing!
For the pink flower, I mainly used the Tea Party pigment and then added some yellow, orange, hot pink (Cherry Blossom), and red (Ruby Red) to it.
For the yellow flower, I used almost all the yellows and oranges in the set. And I also mixed the browns to form some mustard and ochre-like shades for the shadows.
As I kept the flowers very clean, and without any stippling, I thought that adding some of it on the leaves would look really nice and add some texture. Once I was done with the leaves, I added a light color wash of green at the lower half and teal at the upper half. The cardstock of the coloring book is really great and takes quite a bit of water! You will see in the video that I do use quite a bit of water for the background but the coloring book page did not warp!
Next, I dried the panel and added splatters of green watercolor. To finish, I added fine black paint splatters. For this, I used the Essential Watercolor 12 Pan Set.

You can cut this or just adhere it to a card base, stamp a sentiment or add a die-cut word sentiment to create a thoughtful card. I usually put these panels back in the coloring book.
