How to Create an Eye-Catching Birthday Card with Creative Die-Cutting
I love to add intense colors to my cards and perhaps I mix and match colors you might have never considered blending. For today, I kept it simple.

Craft-A-Flower: Anemone Blue Poppy – Die-Cutting Made Easy!
The new Anemone Blue Poppy Layering Die Set includes 8 cutting dies that will cut 15 pieces. This will allow you to create 2 layering flowers and 4 leaves designs.
I was surprised by the size of the flowers. They are quite big!
Each will cover a good portion of the half of an A2 panel. One of these flowers will be enough to make a card, a box topper, or a tag, but I decided to put all the elements in a single project.
Anemone Blue Poppy Birthday Card
First, I die-cut the flowers and leaves out of white cardstock (Smooth – 300gsm) using dies from the Craft-A-Flower: Anemone Blue Poppy Layering Die Set.
Then, I applied inks over the die-cuts using Mini Blending Brushes and Micro Blending Brushes.
I used the Stampwheel as a mat to place the die-cuts over while ink blending.
Each flower has 2 petals: I blended Ultraviolet, Andromeda, Sapphire, and Graphite inks for the backing petals and for the petals in the front, I blended Wisteria, Hydrangea, Sapphire and Graphite.
The intention was to add the darker color in the centre of the die cuts and blend the lighter colors toward the edge.
TIP: It is also important to leave a white edge and not cover the whole piece with inks to add interest.
For the leaves, I used Fiery and Sapphire ink colors.
After adding colors, I glued all the pieces together and stuck them on a purple background piece that I previously die-cut using the largest die in the Ornate Nesting die set.
Then, I glued this topper over a panel I made using the Spellbinders BetterPress, the Rustic Burlap Press Plate, Graphite Ink and white BetterPress paper. Next, I glued the front panel over an A2 card (4.25″ x 5.5″).
To finish, I added a gold heat-embossed sentiment I made using the One-Go: Words & Banners. I embellished the birthday card using Clear Enamel Dots.
Pro tip: To achieve color coordination and harmony apply the same ink color to add shadows or contrast. Today, I used a dark blue ink – Sapphire.
