Spring is just around the corner and so is our April 2025 edition of the Altenew Inspiration Challenge! The incredibly talented Amy Rysavy is hosting the April 2025 Inspiration Challenge with a handmade card that will get you in the mood for beautiful, fabulous florals!
April 2025 Inspiration Challenge
Each month, a member of the Altenew Design Team (or guest designer) selects a photo that they have taken and then uses that as inspiration for a project. We want to share the fun, of course, and so we invite YOU to use your own creativity to make a project inspired by this month's photo. Let's hear it from Amy!
Inspiration Challenge Photo
Hello Altenew family! Amy R here from Prairie Paper & Ink here to kick off this month’s challenge! I had taken this photo last year (as currently there’s still a ton of snow on the ground here in Saskatchewan lol) of some of my echinacea that I’d planted in one of my garden beds.
Here’s the challenge graphic with my photo and color inspiration to go by to helpfully inspire you to make a project! Altenew has a TON of floral options that would work wonderfully of course but you could also just take the inspiration colors and create whatever strikes your fancy.
I went with florals (I can’t lie – large florals will ALWAYS be a favorite of mine) for my cards – specifically Altenew’s Craft A Flower Cherry Blossom Branch. I will have a video on my YouTube channel showing how I made mine but here’s how I did it:
Bright and Cheerful Birthday Card
I die cut the flowers from Frosty Pink Cardstock and used Frosty Pink and Coral Berry Fresh Dye Inks and a mini blending brush to add depth. The flower centers were cut from Velvet and Ivory cardstocks and I used Velvet Fresh Dye ink to add depth there as well. The branch and leaves were die cut from Milk Chocolate Cardstock and Olive Cardstock and Milk Chocolate, Espresso, Olive and Moss Fresh Dye inks were blended onto them.
I embossed the Vintage Motifs stencil onto some Moon Rock Cardstock for my background before adhering the Cherry Blossom branch over it. I added splatter with Titanium White Artists Gouache.
The sentiment was made using Altenew’s Timeless Sentiments Dies and stacked using ivory cardstock and vellum before adhering to the card front. The sub-sentiment was heat embossed onto some Olive cardstock and is from Altenew’s Build-A-Garden Sulfur Cosmos set.
To finish them off I added Altenew Blush Pearl and Coral Pearl Dots and that was it!
