Adding a Rainbow with a Twist to Memory Keeping Pages

Let's take a look at what I have created with the new Blossoming Bouquet.  I am pairing up with a rainbow and adding a twist -aka pocket- to complete the spread.   I love how color, texture, and a bit of shine create the perfect background for my stories.

Bring on the color

My way to add a rainbow to memory keeping starts with the color in the floral die cuts of the page.   I am using Obsidian Pigment ink to create the Blossoming Bouquet impression on watercolor paper.   Then, I used a selection of Fresh Dye Inks ( you can find all the colors in the supply list) and the Blossoming Bouquet Stencil to also bring a rainbow to the florals.

I was careful to add color through the stencil, so that the final look resembles that of a rainbow.   I simply started with the top petal and yellow tones, then slowly changed colors as I moved to the bottom of the floral.

Add More Color

I am keeping the colors in the florals subtle, so the impression of the designs pops; so, I am contrasting it with a more vibrant rainbow in the background.  For this, I am using colors from all the Slim Washi Tape sets to create the stripe design in the background.

I am also adding an extra bit of color to the journaling side of the spread by adding (this helps to tie the spread, and also balance it) with a small rainbow strip of washi tape.  I  used my Comfy Cut to trim around the embossed area of the bottom corner of the page, so I can tuck the rainbow strip.  Just a simple way to add a rainbow with a twist to memory keeping layouts.

Bring In Some Texture

I am using the Blossoming  Bouquet Embossing Folder to add texture to the journaling side of the spread.  I am using the folder to add texture to the two corners of the spread, which will help frame my journaling in the page.  I am also adding a bit of extra texture in my title of the page, too.

Adding a Bit of Shine

Now for a bit of shine, I am using the Timeless Sentiments 2 Die set, Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock, and  Dazzling Diamond Glitter Cardstock to  create the title for my page.  In addition, I am also using Gold Foil 1in Washi tape to help me create the tags for my spread.

Let's Add a Twist to This Rainbow Design

Now here is the twist, I decided to transform my rainbow circle into a pocket for my spread. The direction of the washi tape strips helped me to cut a section out of the circle. I then decided to only glue the bottom section of the circle thus creating a pocket for my picture tags.

I have created a video on how this spread came together.  You can watch the video here, or in HD on Altenew YouTube Channel:

I hope this idea to add a rainbow with a twist to memory keeping journal inspires you to use the beautiful Blossoming Bouquet in your next crafty project.  I cannot wait to see what you will create!
