Vintage-Inspired Card with Parchment Scrolls and Roses

Svitlana is here. Today, I’m excited to share a vintage-inspired card featuring the Parchment Scrolls Layering Die Set—a product that truly speaks to my love for all things old-world and elegant. The charm of parchment scrolls, with their timeless appeal, makes them a perfect focal point for a classic yet sophisticated design. Naturally, I couldn’t resist creating a card with strong vintage vibes using this stunning set.

Creating the Scrolls
I began by die-cutting the elements for both a rolled and an open scroll using the layering dies from the Parchment Scrolls Layering Die Set. To achieve a realistic, aged parchment effect, I used Crafty Necessities: Espresso, Mocha, Sand Dunes, and Vanilla Cream Cardstock. For additional depth and interest, I inked up some of the die-cut layers with coordinating Fresh Dye Inks from the Coffee Break and Delectable Delights Sets, giving the parchment a rich, warm tone.
After inking, I assembled the parchment scrolls, adhering their layers with liquid glue. However, for a touch of dimension, I popped up the top layer of the open scroll using thin adhesive foam squares. This slight elevation gave it a more natural, curled-paper appearance, enhancing the realism of the design.
To further emphasize the aged look, I lightly splattered brown ink across the open scroll.
Sentiment and Floral Embellishments
For the sentiment, I die-cut a phrase from the Scripted Sentiments Die Set out of Crafty Necessities: Jet Black Cardstock and adhered it at the center of the open scroll, making it the card’s focal point.
Next, I created several delicate roses using the Ethereal Roses Stamp and Die Bundle. These beautiful blooms were stamped in layers using Blushberry Bliss and Frosted Foliage Fresh Dye Inks, adding a soft, romantic touch.
I know that layering stencils have gained popularity due to their ease of use, but I still find joy in the precision and detail that layering stamps offer—especially those from Altenew, which are incredibly easy to align!
Once the roses were die-cut, I arranged them on the open scroll, allowing their soft hues to contrast with the warm parchment tones.
To add an extra vintage flourish, I placed a wax seal at the bottom of the floral cluster. This was created using Enchanted Gold Wax Beads and the Mini Bow Wax Seal Stamp—a perfect match for this design!
If you haven’t tried wax seals yet, I highly recommend them. They add such an elegant, tactile detail to any project and are simply fun to play with!
Background and Final Assembly
For the background, I used Crafty Necessities: Mountain Pine Cardstock, embossed with the Motif Tile 3D Embossing Folder. To highlight the intricate design, I gently swiped Enchanted Gold Pigment Ink over the raised pattern, giving it a subtle gilded effect.
The rich, deep green with gold accents created an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-world library—perfectly complementing the parchment scroll.
I mounted the background panel onto a white card base using Instant Dimension Foam Tape, then arranged the parchment scrolls on top. The rolled scroll was adhered flat, while the open one was popped up using black adhesive foam squares to keep it level with the rolled piece, ensuring a balanced composition.
Finishing Touches
As a final touch, I crafted a few matching embellishments by repurposing leftover melted Enchanted Gold Wax Beads from my spoon. I simply let them cool on my Silicone Mat and then adhered them to the card with liquid glue—an easy way to create custom, coordinating accents!
