One Kit, Every Product Used = FIVE Cards
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Kit Components: The Craft Your Life Project Kit: Fruits and Flowers includes layering dies, silhouette stamps, a 3D embossing folder, and layering stencils.
Layering Stencils: Used to create three distinct cards by varying color palettes and adding texture with Shimmer Relief Paste and Metallic Ink Spray.
Layering Dies: Used for intricate fruit designs (peaches/apricots and strawberries); assembly is eased by using fine-tipped liquid glue.
3D Embossing: Provides textured backgrounds for die-cut focal points.
Silhouette Stamps: Effective for creating wreath-like layouts; errors in stamping can be masked using die-cut shapes (e.g., nesting circles) for sentiments.
Sentiments: The kit’s stamp set provides various pun-based and simple sentiments suitable for multiple card designs.
Craft Your Life Project Kit Fruits and Flowers
Hello, hello Altenew friends and fans! I hope you are in the mood for some zesty fun fruity puns, because I sure am. The really fun Craft Your Life Project Kit: Fruits and Flowers is serving up layering dies, solid silhouette stamps, a 3D embossing folder and layering stencils. This is a really, really versatile kit. There is also a coordinating die set for this kit, for the sentiments in the stamp set, but unfortunately, I do not have that.
I set out on a mission to use every single produce... sorry, product, in this kit and I am very pleased to say that I accomplished it too. I did end up with SIX finished cards and in the video, I go through the process of using each one of the components of the kit one by one, so if there is something in the kit that you are not that into, you can easily skip parts of the video. However, I forgot to film the part where I used the 3D embossing folder from the kit, I only show the finished panel and how I ended up using in on the card. If you want to see the 3D embossing in action, I have several videos on the Altenew YouTube channel where I use them so feel free to peruse the playlist Tremendous Texture with Erica!
The Layering Stencils
The first thing I used was the layering stencils, because they are BEAUTIFUL! If you get a chance to watch the video, you get to see the first panel being ink blended. I also did two more panels, in different colors, but all in all, three cards from one layering stencil set and some sentiments from the stamp set in the kit is not too shabby at all.
The first one finished I used the colors suggested in the packaging of the layering stencils. Mine didn't come out exactly like the sample card, but pretty close and it was so cute!
A simple sentiment was stamped directly onto the card; the sentiment is from the stamp set in the kit.
Next up I did two more panels with the layering stencils and went for a pink and green color combo. It's a classic after all.
The first pink one is pretty similar to the first card, layout-wise. Again, a simple sentiment from the kit stamp set was added with black ink and done.
On the final card made with the layering stencils, I wanted a slightly different layout and finish. On this one I used some Shimmer Relief Paste in Enchanted Gold for the middle of the flowers, and I also spritzed a little bit of Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray on it for extra shimmer.
Surprise, surprise, this one also has a sentiment from the kit stamp set. I really wanted to use ONLY the kit for these cards, apart from inks and Crafty Necessities Colored Cardstock of course.
The Layering Die Cuts
Ooooh, now these you can go absolutely apricots with. Ok, so according to the packaging of the dies, it's actually a peach, but I'm going with an apricot because I actually have an apricot tree in my garden.
I have used so many different colors of Crafty Necessities Colored Cardstock for these, but I do think it was worth it. The only fruit I didn't make was the banana, and there is a simple, but possibly TMI reason for this. Bananas give me 'the burps'... as in I turn into an uncontrollable trumpet if I eat bananas. I have never seen or heard the likes, but it is a sight to behold.
Ok, slight deviation from the Project Kit that we are actually here to talk about but hey, side notes can be fun sometimes, right?
All of the layering dies have been glued together using The Glue, the fine-tipped nozzle is so great for these small die cuts. My favorite card out of the ones made with the kit die cuts is probably this one!
Admittedly, there were only two cards made with the die cuts from the kit, so there wasn't a huge competition for the top spot. However, I still like this one best.
The second card made with the die cuts is also the one with the background made with the 3D embossing folder.
The Silhouette Stamp Set
For the final card, I have used the Stampwheel 2.0 and the silhouette stamp set from the kit. I had a little bit of stamping drama where I mixed the colors I was using but decided to make it work rather than starting from scratch. I think it worked but would love to hear what you think about this save.
To cover up the mess I made in the middle, I added a circle cut out of white cardstock, using the Nesting Circles dies. This both covered up the overlapping of the stamps and gave a nice clean background for a sentiment to be added. This is again from the stamp set in the kit. This card is the only one out of the six that has something added to it that isn't part of the kit (not counting the shimmer relief paste and metallic ink spray, inks and cardstock)
Well, with that I am all done for today, but I hope this post inspired you to look at this kit with new eyes. Hopefully you will also get a chance to watch the YouTube video.
With love and light, sparkle and creativity from your kit loving gal, Erica.
