Simply Scientific Release
Science is all around us – from research labs to the human body to nature. This release honors all things scientific with an amazing collection of stamps, dies, stencils, and embossing folders! The stars of this collection are stamps of botanical illustrations and versatile test tubes and beakers (which can double as flower vases!), and they are accompanied by amazing sentiments and geometric elements. The stunning 3D embossing folders are the icing on the cake. It's time to get crafty!
Simply Scientific Release Project Inspiration
Today, I am going to share a card that uses the new Doodle Bouquet Stamp Set, Doodle Bouquet Die Set, and Simple Coloring Stencil Set.
You can buy the items that I used individually or in a bundle, which gives you more savings! The Doodle Bouquet Stamp and Die Set features a huge floral bouquet with a rather fun, quirky style. The image is big enough to cover a card front but can be cut down to suit your chosen style.
I started by stamping the floral image from the Doodle Bouquet Stamp Set in Obsidian Pigment Ink onto some Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. Then, I used the Simple Coloring Stencil Set to add color to the flowers and leaves. Below are the colors I used for each flower and leaf:
- Pink Flowers – Rose Quartz and Puffy Heart Crisp Dye Ink
- Lilac Flowers – Wisteria and Hydrangea Crisp Dye Ink
- Blue Flowers- Sea Glass and Ocean Waves Crisp Dye Ink
- Yellow Flowers – Buttercream and Warm Sunshine Crisp Dye Ink
- Leaves – Limeade, Lime, and Fresh Leaf Crisp Dye Ink
- Flower centers – I chose to use Warm Sunshine Crisp Dye Ink or Milk Chocolate Crisp Dye Ink, depending on the surrounding petals of the flower.
I found that using Altenew's Mini Blending Brushes gave me more control over how much ink I blended and allowed me to use a lighter hand pressure. Once I added all the colors, I used the Doodle Bouquet Die Set to cut the image.
Next, I prepared an A2 card base to stamp my chosen sentiment in the top right corner with Obsidian Pigment Ink. I always double-stamp to ensure that I have the crispest impression possible.
Afterward, I laid the floral image on my card to establish where it would look the best. I found the proper placement but felt that I needed to add something.
I decided that a thin strip of Jet Black Cardstock below the sentiment would pull everything together. So, I stuck a 1/4″ double-sided tape to the back of a Jet Black Cardstock piece.
I trimmed the black cardstock to measure 1/4″ and added it to my original card. Afterward, I added Instant Dimension Foam Tape to the floral image and adhered it to my card. Finally, I trimmed any overhanging elements and added glossy accents to the center of the flowers.
