Hello crafty friends! Svitlana here today, sharing a bold and creative masculine ink-blended card that features the stunning Brilliant Waves Background Stencil.
Background with Ink Blending on Colored Cardstock
I wanted to go for a multicolored abstract look, so I did my ink blending on colored cardstock rather than white. When using Fresh Dye Inks on non-white cardstock, remember: the transparent inks will blend with the base color to produce a new hue.
For my base, I used Crafty Necessities: Vanilla Cream Cardstock and blended through the Brilliant Waves Background Stencil with Teal Tempest Fresh Dye Ink. The combination gave me a beautiful green tone—just like mixing yellow and blue.
Before lifting the stencil, I added splatters using the same Teal Tempest ink for added texture. To do this, I pressed the ink pad onto my mat, added a bit of water, and splattered with a small brush.
Framing Panel with Inked Edges
Next, I die cut a rectangle from Crafty Necessities: Vanilla Cream Cardstock and softly inked around its edges using Hazelnut and Vanilla Cream Fresh Dye Inks.
I followed up with Hazelnut ink splatters to tie it into the background and add a little rustic character.
Bold Sentiment with Layered Ink
For the bold focal sentiment, I die-cut “DUDE” using the Fine Alphabet Die Set and Crafty Necessities: Burnt Red Cardstock. To give the letters some dimension and richness, I blended Mahogany Bark Fresh Dye Ink onto them.
I also created a secondary sentiment using the One-Go: Solid Sentiment Strips Press Plate and its coordinating die. Again, I used Mahogany Bark Fresh Dye Ink on Crafty Necessities: Vanilla Cream Cardstock to match the other elements. The result was a perfect reverse look—mahogany lettering on a vanilla base.
Assembling the Masculine Ink Blended Card
I adhered the “DUDE” sentiment and the strip onto the Vanilla Cream rectangle panel, then mounted this onto the green ink-blended background. The entire panel was then adhered to a white card base.
Finishing Touches
To complete the card, I added a handful of enamel dots from the Martian Terrain and Sweet Dreams sets for a polished touch of dimension.
This masculine ink blended card with stencil and bold sentiment is great for birthdays, Father's Day, or any occasion where you want a guy-friendly design that stands out.
