March 2026 Inspiration Challenge
Each month, a member of the Altenew Design Team (or guest designer) selects a photo that they have taken and then uses that as inspiration for a project. We want to share the fun, of course, and so we invite YOU to use your own creativity to make a project inspired by this month's photo. This month's host is Aditi Mahajan.
March 2026 Inspiration Photo
Aditi here and I’m excited to be hosting the March Inspiration Challenge. Inspiration challenges have always helped me create especially when I feel overwhelmed, or at a loss of spark. Today with this challenge, I hope you’re able to stretch your creative color muscles and create something that inspires you.
The photo I picked today was taken at a restaurant where this oddly shaped vase with one bloom caught my eye. It wasn’t just that, I loved the color combination and geometric pattern of the tiles on the table. There is so much inspiration in this single frame, and I’m sure you’ll be able to create multiple cards based on that.
Let’s dive into the card I created inspired by this photo.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. On an A2 White cardstock, ink-blend with Golden Honeycomb at the bottom of the panel. Leave the top half diagonally white.
2. Place the Geometric Mix Stencil diagonally and ink blend with Green Onyx over the Golden Honeycomb.
3. Die cut one of the Pitcher Vases from the set and emboss the same.
4. Ink blend the die with Golden Honeycomb and with Amber Blaze to highlight the texture.
5. Die- cut the bigger bloom from Craft-A-Flower: Sunflowers Layering Die Set.
6. Ink blend the petals with Blush Rose. For the flower center, ink blend the leaves with Mossy Meadow and go over with Green Onyx.
7. Assemble and glue the flower.
8. Place a scrap piece of paper over the stenciled design with a ½” gap and ink-blend with Amber Blaze to create a bright stripe.
9. Adhere the vase and flower with Instant Dimension Foam Tape. Tuck and glue the leaves underneath the flower.
10. Ink blend with Strawberry lightly on the top part of the panel.
11. Add splatters with black ink and Metallic Watercolor Pan Set.
12. Stamp the sentiment with Obsidian Pigment Ink and die cut the same. Adhere it to the panel with instant dimension foam tape.
I’ve used the colors from the inspiration photo as well as the composition.
I hope this inspires you to play along. I look forward to your creations.
Happy Crafting!
Warmly,
Aditi
