One-Layer Watercolor Carnations Card

Hello! Erum here with a new watercolor project and video for the Creative Coloring with Erum video series. My card today features the Build-A-Garden: Grand Carnations Stamp Set.
- On an A2 Watercolor Cardstock, stamp images from the Build-A-Garden: Grand Carnations stamp in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
- Use the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set to color the images. For my flowers and leaves, I mixed different watercolors to create unique shades.
- For the flowers, I added blues plus a touch of yellow to the Cherry Blossom watercolor. And for the leaves, I mixed Green Hills with Red Cosmos watercolor and a little bit of Cool Summer Night watercolor.
- Make sure to add darker pigment to the nooks to create a sense of shadows, and keep the tips lighter to show highlights. The contrast between these two is what will make the image pop and create faux dimension.
- Add a hint of pink (the color of the flower) to the leaves as well to create interest.
- For the background, I mixed a bit of Cherry Blossom watercolor with the Rock Collection watercolor. Then, I applied a light concentration of this.
- To hide the ink smears, I added a darker concentration of this in some areas. Make sure to dab your brush while doing this to create a textured background.
- To add interest, drop in the pink watercolor in some areas.
- Once done, dry the panel completely, then add fine black watercolor splatters.
