Watercolor Splatter Cards
You don’t need to paint detailed flowers to create a unique watercolor look. Today I’m sharing two card ideas using a simple watercolor splatter technique using the Creative Cuts: Botanical Waltz Layering Die Set.

Card #1: Masked Watercolor Splatter Background
For my first card, I started by creating a soft watercolor wash on a panel of watercolor cardstock. Once the background was dry, I used die cut floral images from the Botanical Waltz set to mask areas of the panel before adding colorful splatters.
After removing the masks, the watercolor splattered background revealed soft floral shapes where the masks had been placed. I layered colored cardstock die cut flowers and leaves over those areas. Adding dimension with Foam Tape for some of the blooms.
I finished the card with a bold die cut Timeless Sentiment and a stamped sub sentiment from the Plants & Vases Stamp Set.
Card #2: Watercolor Splatter Floral Bouquet

For the second card, I used the watercolor splattered flowers from the Botanical Waltz Set to create a loose floral bouquet. This is another way to use the watercolor splatter technique, letting the splattered shapes become the focal point.
I die cut a few leaves from watercolor cardstock and added a quick wash of green before layering them with the watercolor splattered flowers. I also stamped a few black leaf sprigs from the Plants & Vases Stamp Set in the background to add a little contrast and help tie the bouquet into the design.
The bouquet is centred on a Nesting Arch Die cut panel, which helps frame the flowers and keeps everything feeling balanced. I finished the card with a bold die cut Timeless Sentiment.
