Create Bold and Simple Memory Keeping Layouts (With Video Tutorial!)

Hello crafty friends! It's Nathalie with you today with a new idea to create bold and simple memory keeping layouts featuring Altenew cardstock and other fun products.   There are times when all you need are a few elements to bring interest to your projects; this time, I am using a selection of Crafty Necessities Cardstock, Essential Sentiments, and the new Decorative Motifs Stamp set to create an eye catching spread.  Let's take a look at the project:

Some well placed color in geometric formation, simple but detailed embellishments, and a pop of shine are the main features that create ultimate impact on this memory keeping layout.   It is time to take a closer look at all the details

A Simple Geometric Background

Bold and Simple memory keeping is all based on finding a way to create impact on a page with little details.   In this case, I am choosing to create a large square background filled with color.   The small rectangle strips are created with the Essential Sentiments die and a selection  of Crafty Necessities Cardstock.   I set them in in a sequential order – Pastel Sunrise, Blush, Coral Berry, Rubellite, Puffy Heart, Berrylicious, and Acai Berry  inside 2 1/4″ squares, forming a larger square for the background of the page.

 

Add More Geometric Details

I am extending the geometric and colorful pattern of cardstock strips by creating a border to the right of the photo.  I simply cut the squares in half and adhered them sequentially to have the pattern repeated on both sides of the spread.  This makes the page cohesive and dynamic.

Detailed Embellishing

I am using the Decorative Motifs Stamp Set to create my embellishing.  I stamped three images with Obsidian Pigment ink, and fussy cut each image.   I then place the images onto the corners of the squares and the bottom corner of the photo.  The key was to keep the edge of the squares clean.  The detailed stamped images make the background pop thus keeping the bold and simple memory keeping design going.

Add a Pop of Shine

I am using the Essential Sentiments set to  bring the desired pop of shine to the page without taking over the geometric and colorful background.  The shape of the strips match that of the background thus keeping the look of the spread uniform, and not overtaking the look of the floral motifs.
