Beyond A Background - Using Press Plate Backgrounds For Texture And Shine - A Touch Of Sparkle With Carissa Wiley

Press plates, background stamps and cover dies are great ways to create simple backgrounds, but they can be used for so much more! They also make great textural additions to die cuts, stamped images and more!
It's Carissa Wiley here with you today. I'm going to share some inspiration for using the new Essential Textures Fine Woodgrain press plate, which is available in the September release, coming September 16th! I'll also use some of the other new products available on September 16th, so I hope you enjoy this very special sneak peek!
Here’s How to Make Your Backgrounds Shine!
Press plates can be used in a variety of ways. Today, I'll be using the Fine Woodgrain press plate to foil. You can also use any press plate for a lettepress look with the Betterpress System, or to create an impression with your die cut machine. All of these are great options for these background card projects.
Assembling the Elements of Today’s Card
I created a foiled piece with some Champagne Foil, and then die cut the new Crispy Leaves and the grateful greeting from the Timeless Sentiments Die Set: Holiday Edition from the foiled piece. This gives my die cut texture and shine!
To add color, I ink blended the foiled pieces using a favorite new fall palette, which includes Fresh Dye Inks in Dusty Rose, Toasted Mauve, Pumpkin Pie, Yellow Ochre, Misty Moor, and Marshland.
I combined these textured pieces with other elements from the upcoming September release, like the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Sweet Harvest, the Nesting Circles Die Set and the One-Go Solid Sentiments Strips Gratitude Edition to create two beautiful background card designs.
