Easy Watercolor Florals and Background

For a truly relaxing day, might I recommend immersing yourself in the simple joy of stamping countless flowers, followed by a leisurely session of mindless watercoloring?

While I personally only colored eight to ten flowers, I found the gradual transition from dark to light hues incredibly soothing, truly embracing the meditative nature of the process.

1. On an A2 Watercolor Cardstock, stamp the flower from the Mini Delight Delicate Butterfly several times (or as needed) in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
2. Color the image using the yellow and orange colors from the Artists' Watercolor 24-Pan Set. Start by adding orange to the anywhere you want to show shadow. Tip: Add yellow instead of diluting the color to show highlights or lighter areas. This way, the color of the flower stays vibrant instead of soft. I keep switching the technique among flowers.
3. I used warmer green watercolors, Rain Forest and Tropical Forest, for the stems.
4. Once the images were dry, I fussy cut them and set them aside.
5. On another panel of A2 Watercolor Cardstock, I applied water in an L shape. Then, I dropped in tropical Forest pigment and spread it around, making sure that the pigment was most concentrated on the bottom left and less as I moved my brush to the top left and to the bottom right. No pigment at all in the top right corner.
6. I used a heat tool to dry the panel. Then, I added fine black splatters with a paintbrush. For this, I added Jet Black Ink Spray to a pan. This is super helpful and a less messy way to use the ink spray.
7. Next, I used the Glue Tape to adhere the images that I cut up so I could arrange them to my liking.
8. Then I stamped the butterfly onto leftover watercolor cardstock in Obsidian Pigment Ink. And partially stamped its layer along the edges with Sunkissed Crisp Dye Ink. Then I used a wet paintbrush and went over the entire butterfly to spread the orange ink. To add the green to the wings, I used watercolor and added it to the area without color.
9. Once the butterfly was dry, I adhered it to the card front and stamped the sentiment.
