2 Clean and Simple Holiday Wreath Cards Using ONLY DIES!
Hello Altenew friends, this is Hannelie! Today, I’m excited to share how I created two clean and simple holiday wreath cards using only dies. Both cards follow the same basic recipe, but by changing up the colors and sentiments, I achieved two distinct looks— one perfect for Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas!
2 Clean and Simple Holiday Wreath Cards Using ONLY DIES!
As you might know by now, I am always on the lookout for creative ways to make the most of my supplies, so let's revisit an earlier post where the inspiration for today's cards first took shape.
Most of our floral stamp and die sets feature beautiful leaves as “supporting acts,” but today, we're putting those leaves in the spotlight and giving them the leading role on our cards!
For today’s clean and simple holiday wreath cards, we are using the leaves of the Craft-a-Flower: Dahlia April Heather set and sentiments from the Timeless Sentiments Holiday Edition Die Set. Although this sentiment set was just released this month, it has already become my go-to sentiment set for holiday cards!
So, let’s get started with today’s holiday wreath cards:
To make these cards, you will need:
- White cardstock
- Craft a Flower: Dahlia April Heather
- Timeless Sentiments Holiday Edition Die Set
- Die cut machine
- Large Circle Die
- Tiny circle die to cut out the berry embellishments for the Christmas card or as an alternative, you can use enamel dots
- Instant Dimension Foam Tape
- Glitter cardstock set gilded.
- Vellum
- Adhesive of your choice
- Crafty necessity card stock: Thanksgiving card – Vineyard Berry, Mocha, Honey Drizzle, Olive, Caramel Toffee Christmas card: Forest Fern, Just Green, Heart Beat & Vineyard Berry
- Sicilian Amber Gem Sparkles
Step-by-step instructions:
Please note: The basic instructions for both holiday wreath cards are the same. Please refer to the supply list for cardstock colors and embellishments used for individual cards.
- Use a circle die to cut out a circle from white card stock that will fit onto an A2 card, leaving enough room for leaves hanging off the edge of the circle. **Tip**: The reason why I use a circle as the base for my wreath, is to make the leaf placement easier. By adding Instant Dimension Foam Tape to the circle, you avoid the tricky task of applying small pieces of tape to each individual leaf and still achieve a dimensional look! (the photo below is just an example of the assembly process, not the same one as in the finished card.)
- Use the leaf die to cut out leaves in various colors. The great thing about this die is that it cuts out five leaves at once, saving you plenty of time and effort, and as an added bonus, you will have extra leaves to use on another card!
- Assemble the wreath by adhering the leaves to the circle die cut, alternating colors and leaf shapes to create a balanced look.
- Adhere the circle with leaves to the card base using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
- Use the sentiment die to cut out the sentiment from Glitter cardstock.
- Use the shadow die from the sentiment set to cut out the vellum layer.
- Adhere the Glittered cardstock sentiment onto the vellum layer and adhere the assembled sentiment over the wreath. I used Instant Dimension foam tape for extra dimension.
- Embellish the Thanksgiving card with Gem Sparkles.
- Embellish the Christmas card with small die cut dots or enamel dots as preferred.

As you can see, sometimes the simplest techniques can have the biggest impact. By focusing on key elements like leaves or experimenting with different colors and sentiments, you can easily create unique and stunning wreath cards for any occasion.
