Freehand Watercolor Florals on a Scrapbook Layout

Hello and welcome Altenew fans.

After three weeks of teaching from home (not an easy task), I am now on spring break. Holidays usually mean getting work done in the house and garden and learning something new. I have always loved aquarelle and thought it would be a nice idea to create my own watercolored flowers as a feature element of a scrapbook layout.

How to Do Freehand Watercolor Florals:

1. Using the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set, create two floral clusters on watercolor paper that measured 9" by 12". I have been watching a lot of tutorials on how to watercolor flowers and still need to learn more but I was pretty happy with the result. TIP: Use a piece of scrap watercolor paper to practice on before starting on your final sheet.
2. Add a couple of strips of washi tape from the Tea Party Washi Tape Set. I picked this set because the colors worked well with those in my floral arrangements.
3. Place your watercolor paper on to some colored cardstock. This will create a lovely backdrop.
4. Now it is time to add some details. For embellishments, I created some butterflies using the Tea Party Washi Tape Set and the Summer Afternoon Washi Tape Set. I placed the strips onto some white cardstock and used the Mix and Match Mariposa Die Set to cut out some pretty butterflies.
5. Chose a photo, title, and some journaling to document a memory. I created the title just like the butterflies, using one of the die words from the Script Words Die Set 2 and some washi tape. I chose a darker shade so that it would stand out.

It is a very simple layout but with lots of lovely details. I am really happy I dove into the world of watercoloring and will be practicing a lot more now.
