The dies can stand alone, but they work well together stacked up. One of the few sets of snowflakes that can do that.

There's so many snowflake die sets out there and I looked long and hard before settling on Altenew's Layered Snowflakes 2. I think it's just wonderful in terms of size--large enough for a focal piece, small enough to create backgrounds. The cut pieces are lovely when layered together in any combination and the resulting variety of shapes almost rivals that found in nature (smile). While I've had lots of fun creating in this way, what really sold me on the set was how beautiful each flake is on its own. I have found a shim helps when using heavier specialty cardstock like glittered; that type of paper involves a bit more effort when popping out the interior pieces as well. Still fun. : -)
