Three Simple Watercolor Cards Inspired by Blueprints

Hello, everyone! It’s Aga here and today I would like to share with you a simple set of watercolor cards inspired by Cyanotype.

Cyanotype is a photographic printing method that produces prints with a cyan-blue color. This process was mainly used in the 20th century by engineers to produce copies of drawings and was referred to as blueprints. Cyanotype images are made using chemicals on photographic paper and I simply used watercolors and white die-cuts to mimic this look.

Watercolor Card #1: Floral Die-Cuts

For my first card, I painted a background using Altenew watercolor paper and Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set.

Next, I used two floral die-cuts from Hanging Garden Die Set to finish it. I also added a sentiment from the Label Love Stamp Set stamped with black.

Watercolor Card #2: Simple Foliage

For the next card, I used a similar watercolored background.

To finish the card, I used a foliage frame containing lovely leaves from Peeking Leaves Cover Die.

Watercolor Card #3: Using Leftover Pieces

For my last card, I used a negative panel die-cut from an old project. I love having those leftover pieces in my stash to work into future cards. This one was cut with Branches and Berries Die Set out of watercolor paper.

I painted the negative panel with watercolors, attached it to a card base, and added my sentiment.
