Pencil Coloring on Stamped Image
For your convenience, I do have a process video sharing how I created this card as soon as the card photos end. Don't forget to check it out!
Firstly, I stamped the Parrot Tulips outline stamp in Cosmic Berry Dye Ink on A2 Watercolor Cardstock. Then, I stamped over it in Vineyard Berry Dye Ink. I actually saw THIS flower on google and I wanted to replicate the colors as close to it as possible. I used a mix of Polychromos and Prismacolor pencils to color. Plus, the inks helped a lot to add the detail.
Once I achieved the base color I wanted through stamping, I started laying down my darkest color which was PC 931. I added this to the darkest areas, that is the stamped portion. These are where I was going to show the shadows. Remember to add this dark color as flicks and pull it out a bit so that it's easier to merge with the next color.
To this, I applied PC 995 and blend the darker pigment. To add a more pink tone to my flower, I added PC 994 and covered most of the flower with this, avoiding the curls or areas where I wanted to show highlights. The next two colors I added were a fluorescent pink from the Prismacolor and white from the Polychromos for the highlights.
To add intense shadows in the nooks, I added black pencil details.
I stamped my leaves using different inks: Mountain Pine and Olive Dye Inks. Then, I used a bunch of greens and fluorescent yellow to color the leaves.
Building the Background
On a 4″ x 8″ Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock panel, I lended Fresh Leaf Dye Ink making sure it's darker on the lower edge and making it lighter as I moved upwards to the top edge.
Then, I stamped a few more leaves directly onto the panel in Mountain Pine Dye Ink. After this, I colored in the leaves in the same manner as I did on the watercolor cardstock. I also added Artist Marker details to my leaves and stem using shades from the Rose Petal Set of Artist Markers.
To ground the leaves, I added a bit of shadow to them. Then, I stamped the sentiment and added splatters of black paint from the 12 Pan Watercolor Set. After this, I adhered the images onto the card front with foam tape. Before doing this, I also cut the white outline out of the images as I did not like the look it gave.
