A Cool and Easy Idea with Embossing Folders
Hello, Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. I have a fun post about using embossing folders. Like you, I love the instant and impressive results with embossing folders. The best part is that you can create with any color cardstock. There are also many creative ways in adding colors to the dry-embossed images. If you love to get inky, this approach might be your next thing to try! The hardest part of creating my projects was ….waiting for the ink to dry.
I am using Perfect Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder as my example. The color media I used in this case are the Altenew Ink Sprays!
Before I tackled the project, I picked out the ink colors that would coordinate with the theme of the specific embossing folder. You can simply use your favorite colors or whatever you have in your stash.
First, I sprayed the top part of the embossing folder with various Metallic Ink Sprays (Antique Gold, Forest Glades, and Coral Berry). I also spritzed 2-3 sprays of water to facilitate the color mixing without muddling the colors. Carefully, I put the Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and ran it through the die cutting machine as usual.
For the final touches, I added the stamped and cut poinsettia from Holiday Flower Stamp Set. The Metallic Thread and Antique Gold sequins gave this card that extra wow factor.
I also created my 2nd card in the same fashion.
1. Spray ink (Ruby Red, Puffy Heart, and Frayed Leaf) to the cardstock.
2. Give one or two spritzes of water over the embossing folder, carefully placing the cardstock over the inky side.
3. Die cut with the embossing folder, and let the ink dry.
One thing to note is that no cards will have the exact same inky result. I love the organic aspect of this approach. See the white part on the top part of the card? It was not planned. I actually love that the ink didn't quite entirely cover the cardstock!
I easily finished this card with the Happy Holidays Script Die Set and Antique Gold Sequins. The Gold Foil Cardstock is definitely awesome to use with a large sentiment die and makes this project super easy and fast.
