I like Altenew's layered stamps, but sometimes I am not too good about getting them lined up exactly. This bird is very forgiving, and you MUST order the die to go with it! The die cuts the shapes without a white outline--a real plus in my book! When you get this bird, stamp the feet separately, because the die cuts the feet that way. It was too hard to get the feet lined up with the cardinal. And I decided to use some of my saved packaging from another manufacturer's stencils, because the brown is perfect to just cut the branch. No stamping and lining it up perfectly! The brown on that packaging is mottled, and it is perfect for a limb. That is my recommendation! Also, don't forget to download and print out your stamping directions. I do not understand why Altenew doesn't automatically make this as an insert in every layered set they sell. But at least they make it available to us!

I have not used my winter cardinal stamp and die set yet, but I am without a doubt, sure that it will be great because of Altenew's great quality of products. Can't wait to use it for Christmas cards!

Are birds beautiful? This cardinal is the perfect size to fill the front of a card. So easy to line up. This set adds wonderfully to my collection.
